Procrastinating

It’s been 38 days since I wrote my last newsletter.
For 38 days, I’ve felt guilty about that.

Here’s the positive about taking a vacation: I got rest. I recharged. I’m more excited than ever to take Ladies Get Paid to the next level.

Here’s the negative: I already feel like I’m behind.

Instead of that motivating me to hit the ground running, I’ve actually found myself dragging my feet. Because this is my first newsletter of the year, I’ve grappled with making it profound; making it perfect. Guess what’s happened? Nothing.

I’ve realized that my desire to perform has blocked me from doing the very thing that I enjoy: writing! I’ve been so caught up in the outcome (you liking this newsletter), I’ve forgotten to relish in the process of making it.

A big contributing factor to my procrastination is the pursuit of perfection.

Perfectionism is something I’ve always grappled with but guess what? This is the year that I no longer hold myself to this self-inflicted and unrealistic standard. I just don’t have time anymore for the things that don’t serve me.

I’m proud to say that through therapy, practice, and accountability, I’m already on my way to achieving my New Year’s goal of letting go so I can level up.

If you also struggle with being a perfectionist, I’d love you to join me on January 16th in New York for a workshop on how we can be less hard on ourselves (and others!) so we’re less stressed, more productive, and full of joy.

Because we deserve it.

Now go get paid.

x Claire

PS. Congratulations to all the women being sworn into Congress today – especially Ladies Get Paid member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez! Here’s what happened when she declared her intention to run at one of our event πŸ™‚
