What is the best career or money advice you’ve ever received?
Relationships are the most valuable assets you can ever have in business. No one can take those away from you. Each and every connection you make and maintain is a future door that leads to bigger and better opportunities. Build your network and manage it with care. Then don’t be afraid to knock on those doors when you need them!
What’s a moment in your career that you’re really proud of?
The moment I’m most proud of is the first time I received a thank you note and a bouquet of flowers from a woman I coached and advised. She had gone from a full-time job that was sucking the life out of her, to launching her own consulting practice making the same amount of money working half the hours. She was now able to spend more time with her family and found joy in her work again. Feeling that impact motivated me to continue pushing forward, even during the hiccups, pivots and hard times that inevitably come with a startup.
What is one thing you hope the attendees at the conference will take away from your story?
Understanding how to leverage the skills and networks you already have to launch your own business, bringing the most success with the least amount of risk.
Who is a woman you admire (living or dead)?
Ashlee Margolis Fishman, who runs The A List in LA, is truly the most authentic person I’ve ever met, despite the fact that her business revolves around celebrities. She is giving with her contacts and connections, and has always lived by the “better together” mantra, even before it was trendy. She has inspired me with her warmth and generosity, two qualities that are really hard to find in entrepreneurs who are as successful as her.
