While working as a teacher, she decided to change her financial life by paying off $20,000 of credit card debt in just 18 months. In 2015 she created a YouTube channel, called MissBeHelpful, which has accumulated over 4 million views.

Yanely is one of the youngest members of CNBC’s Financial Wellness Council and she serves as the director of educational outreach for NGPF.org, a nonprofit advocating for every high school student to get a full semester of personal finance education before graduating.

On May 30th, Yanely published her first book, titled Mind Your Money: Insightful Stories and Strategies to Help You Reach Your #MoneyGoals. She is also the host of a new podcast for teens, called Financially Inclined from Marketplace.

This conversation will focus on financial education in schools, changing the laws, and Yanely’s new book which mixes personal stories with personal finance!
