Have you ever paused in the middle of a work day and said to yourself:
“Is this really what I want to be doing for a living?”
So many of us spend our days staring at a screen
Feeling a disconnect between our job and our aspirations
Sometimes without even realizing we feel like something’s missing
The sensation of unfulfillment at work
The nagging feeling that your talents aren’t being fully utilized
The yearning for a career that lights a spark within you
It’s more common than you might think
It’s not just about climbing the career ladder; it’s about creating your ladder
If you’re nodding along, but don’t know where to start to make a change, you’re not alone
If you’re also scared as hell, you’re definitely not alone
I know this because I’ve had over 50 phone calls with women in the community over the past few weeks
So many of you have the desire to do something new but are overwhelmed and anxious about …
- What direction to go in
- How many steps it will take to get there
- If you have the stamina (and financial safety net) to make it
I also work with a ton of women through private coaching on these exact issues, and here’s what I’ve learned:
Until you have a roadmap to achieve your dreams, you won’t even let yourself dream big
You’re probably saying to yourself,
“That’s great Claire, but easier said than done!”
Well, here’s the good news:
I can teach you the exact roadmap you need 🙂
Here’s a preview of the beginning part of the process I’ll take you through in the Ladies Get Hired program:
Instead of looking for a job, imagine you are looking at colleges where you get to design your major.
This centers growth as your focus and helps expand your mind beyond job titles. We’ll dig into things you want to learn, areas to explore, experiences to have, including:
- Strengths + skills
- Exposure + networks
- Impact + interests
The environment is also key. What conditions do you need to thrive?
- Lifestyle + energy
- Money + motivation
(Yep, money. As part of the program, we’ll be making several budgets so if you find an opportunity that requires a financial sacrifice, you’ll know exactly what you’ll be giving up..and if it’s worth it.)
Speaking of if something is worth it, that’s the part where a lot of you really start spinning your wheels
You could go in a lot of directions, how do you decide?
You need to create a filter. What metrics will you use to determine if a certain company or role is right for you?
This is when we explore things like:
- Values
- Priorities + dealbreakers
- Connection to your intuition
At this point, you’ll have a much better sense of who you are and what you want. Great. Now it’s time to do some research.
You have to ask the right people the right questions so you know exactly what is required to a) excel in your next role and b) what it takes to secure it.
Forgot open job listings – way too limiting – let’s cast a wide net to find interesting people and companies. For example, looking at the speaker pages of conference websites, or podcast guests. Questions to ask them:
- What’s your day-to-day like?
- What’s hard about your job?
- What skills have helped you get through your challenges?
This way, you’ll have a realistic picture of what this path requires and if you decide to go down it, you’ll be doing it with eyes wide open. Plus, you can take the info you received and weave it into the story you tell about how you’re a great fit/skills are transferrable. Oh, and it’s good networking 🙂
At this point, you’re feeling solid about the direction, but perhaps insecure about leaping, especially if it’s a big pivot. Don’t worry, you’ll never hear me say, “Just be confident.” Vomit.
Confidence is built on trusting yourself, which you can only do – in my mind – if you have a plan (and financial safety net.)
Here’s the okab we’ll create together based on these three gaps:
- Skills/Experience: How to create your own opportunities if no one is giving them to you
- Storytelling: How to de-risk yourself and articulate a) your transferrable skills and b) your unique perspective as “an outsider”
- Networking:How to start connecting without it feeling transactional or like you’re “bothering” people
I have so much more to say (hence, why the program is 90 days lol), and so if you got to the end of this email, congrats!
You’re clearly invested in your future, which means you’re exactly the kind of person I want to work with
I designed Ladies Get Hired just for you
I had a ton of women reach out about wanting to lock in their spot before today, our official launch day
So I decided to open it up for some people on the waitlist
Turns out the demand was so high that half the spots for this cohort are already filled
But don’t worry, I shut down the presale when we reached 15 registrants to leave room for everyone else
There are only 15 spots left for this 90-day program
I won’t be opening any extra spots because I want to make sure every participant gets the time and resources they need from me
So if you’re stuck making a career change or finding a new job and want to join, sign up ASAP at the link below
Any questions or concerns? Email me back or connect with me on LinkedIn. Remember, we got this – together.
